Beneficiaries:
People residing in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions can benefit from the Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation Program free of charge.
Scope of the Program:
Bone marrow transplantation - a procedure performed when the bone marrow is damaged or completely destroyed and is replaced with new bone marrow cells. In cases of leukemia and lymphoma, it often represents a critical intervention necessary to save the patient’s life.
The program covers: High-dose chemotherapy; Pre-transplantation diagnostic examinations for bone marrow (stem cell) transplantation; Transplantation procedures, including management of the post-transplantation period, such as: transplantation of the patient’s own stem cells (autologous transplantation); transplantation of donor stem cells (allogeneic transplantation); haploidentical transplantation, i.e., transplantation of stem cells from a partially matched family member.
To engage in the program, a person residing in the Abkhazia or Tskhinvali regions should:
- Possess a personal identification number granted as result of registration; or
- Possess a neutral ID (SNID) or neutral travel document (SNTD); or
- Possess an ID Card of Georgian citizen.
Requests for funding for high-dose chemotherapy, pre-transplantation diagnostic examinations, and transplantation services are not submitted simultaneously; separate relevant documentation must be provided for each service. During a calendar year, a beneficiary may receive funding for each of these services only once. To obtain funding, the beneficiary or their representative must submit an application to the LEPL National Health Agency. Program Funding:
Services provided by the Program are fully funded and do not require any co-payment from the patient.
